Are there undergraduate course available in India for international relations studies?

January 13th, 2009 by admin

I am 28 y.o., from India and I would like to become a diplomat. I've completed my 12th grade in the year 1998 and was in a medical school and discontinued it as i'm not interested in it. I realize that I like the subject of foreign affairs and hence would like to be a diplomat. So please tell me if i could have an UG in international studies in India, if so where in India. Thanks.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University is one of many. See their link below. Also consult the search list I have provided.

Not all medical schools in the US accept international students, but the majority do. That said, you should know that because they only admit a few international students, these seats are quite competitive.

The only way to get good info is to call the admissions offices of the schools in which you are interested. One of my international students told me that she checked websites and found this type of info on a minority of school websites, and that many had "policies" on-line that were not consistent with the info she got from admissions offices. …websites not updated.

Good luck!

Got a D on my first quarter of my freshman year and I want to go to Medical School. What should I do?

January 7th, 2009 by admin

I am majoring in biochemistry and i just finished my finals. I found out I got a D in my International Relations Class for General-ed. So now I am stuck with a D on my Transcript and am scared that I might not be accepted to Medical School with this. What should I do?

yikes. that is a little worrying. however, at least it wasnt in a med school requirement course. some med schools (especially the upper tier ones) do tend to reject students with even one low grade on their transcript, but plenty of them would consider a student based on the overall science average; however you have to be aware that science courses are definitely not all they look at. your overall average has to be strong to get in (3.6ish to 4.0), as well as having a strong science gpa. that said, you shouldnt lose all hope. you can overcome this by getting excellent grades from now on, getting involved in medical research (although you may have to complete some more advanced science courses to get into this; biochem is a great start), doing volunteer work at a hospital and also for some causes you care about, and start studying for those mcats early. dont worry too much; it sounds like youve got some time to make up for it.

Do I have a chance getting into a good medical school like John Hopkins?

January 5th, 2009 by admin

I am a sophomore in high school. Freshmen year i got 3 B's and the other 4 were A's. WIll those b's effect my getting into a GOOD medical college? My unweighted GPA is 3.7 and weighted is 4.32, I am also in IB (international Bacculaurete program), which i heard they take into consideration when getting into a good college. I also have about 50 volunteering hours so far, but I dont play any instrument. I am in 2 clubs like debate and a service club. What else should I do so i can get into a good college?
also what is a good undergraduate program to get into? is the seven year medical program good?

I'm desi too. It looks like your parents have put way too much pressure on you if you are thinking about Hopkins for medical school when you are only a sophmore in high school. I'm in medical school as we speak (3rd year).

Your high school transcript means absolutely nothing in the medical school admissions process. They don't look at it or consider it. Throw it away

Honestly, your college name means almost nothing as well. Don't believe the hype about how a 3.5 at an IvyLeague is weighed the same as a 4.0 at a public school. That's b.s.

To get into Hopkins, it comes down to three things
1. GPA
2. MCAT
3. Research

You don't have to major in biology or chem ( I majored in English). In fact, if I could do it over again, I would major in Sociology or Communications and just do the Pre-Med prerequisite classes which 2 semesters of Gen Bio, Gen Chem, Organic Chem w/Lab, Physics with Lab and 1 Calculus. That will keep your GPA up.

Schools only care about numbers and not how you got them or where you got them. A lot of med students have great GPA's 3.7 and higher. What will set you apart is your MCAT score and your research. Try to get a paper published in research and shoot for an MCAT score higher than 36 to be competitive for Hopkins. Aim for a GPA for 3.7 or higher. The MCAT score is the most important so you need to rock that. To do well on the MCAT, make sure you have firm understanding of the basic sciences like Chemistry, Ochem and Physics. Biology is easy.

To get into a good college, you have to nail the SAT. Everyone has strong GPA's but the SAT will set you apart. Just enroll in Kaplan and do the entire question bank. Hire a private tutor to improve in weak areas and devote yourself to that test. Trust me, high school is worth sacaficing. The "cool kids" in high school are usually dumb jocks or hot cheerleaders who are going to end up going to Public U and then getting married and making 50K for the rest of their lives after college. Trust me, you will look pretty damn cool when you are a doctor at 31 years old driving a Porsche and wearing Boss suits. Forget cheerleaders, you will get women a lot hotter than that….of course they will be gold diggers but who cares

Living in Canada deciding to go to Australia medical school?

January 3rd, 2009 by admin

I heard that there is an international student exchange program at the university I’m attending. My friend says since I am going to medical school in the future, why not exchange to Australia, since you can get into medical school with no undergrad required. My question is: Wouldn’t I need to learn what the professor teaches in the undergrad to have a better knowledge of what I will be learning in medical school?

Yes, i strongly suggest you go so your undergraduate study here and then go to med school in canada to get your PHD and then go on to have a sucessful carreer

answer mine please
