Iam in Orlando FL, I want to be a RN is it a good idea to attend a 8 month/$10,000 MA program(everest university) first?? my friends tell me iam wasting my money beause MAs dont make anything but i think this would be agood way to step foot in the medical field. Any advise?
My best Friend took that course at the Everest University in Pittsburgh. She said it was a total waste of money and she's still paying for the school loans. MA's only make $10-$12 per hour. I am a CNA and I went through a course that paid for my classes. Right now I work through an agency and make any where from $11-$16 dollars an hour depending on what facility I work at. I am also currently a full-time student in a nursing program (RN) through a hospital. They pay for your tuition and you just buy your uniforms and books. Hospitals everywhere offer this type of program, but after you graduate you usually have to work for their company/corporation for a certain length of time. I know your in Florida, but check out www.Shadysideschoolofnursing.com to get a better idea of what I mean. After that I suggest looking for programs like that in your area. They are everywhere!

I am looking for a reputable home schooling program to become a medical assistant. My local junior varsity colleges don't offer them and the classes run 8 am – 3:20 pm. I am married, have 3 children and a home to care for so these hours are not possible oputside the home. I just hate to be played and scammed by the many companies that just take your money and get away with it. Then you walk away broke and nothing accomplished. Any ideas of a good at home program formedical assisting?
Waste of time..you won't be able to find a job when you get out.
MA's are the biggest scams in education right now.
Why can't you go to night school a couple of days a week and work towards a college degree?

The Medical istant program at Barton offers a 68 credit-hour ociate in Applied Science degree program. The courses are comprised of general education, administrative, and clinical courses. Because the majority of the students in this program are working adults, the program offers classes available in a evening hybrid (50% online and 50% in the classroom) format or online. During the final semester, students will also complete an internship in an ambulatory health care setting.

I told my parents that I want to go to a nursing school after I graduate from a medical assistant program and they told me that I shouldn't go that soon because I don't want to get like 40,000 in debt. I'm like people go back to school after that. What do you think of that?
I think it is a great plan. Do you qualify for any grants maybe? I am actually in the reverse situation! I went to school for nursing (but stopped midway) and now I want to go back to school, but for Medical Assistant/phlebotomy. Here is what I would do: GO TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE:) It was only like 1,150 a semester for full time. That will not end up being as much as you think. Definatly not 40,000. That is the beautitul thing about comm. colleges. I think it is a great plan girl. Finish going for med. assistant, get a job, work part time, go to school for nursing, get out and make tons of $$$!! Trust, it will not be as much money as you think (to go to school I mean). I actually only had to pay for books because I qualifyed for a grant. Either way there is deffered payments, and the all important: student loans. By the time you pay for them you will be rackin in the doe:) Good Luck doll! God Bless!!
